Prop. 80: An 80 percent tax for some earners and the implementation of the graduated income tax House #253

Vote Description

This vote was on H3933, a proposal for a legislative amendment to the Constitution via an Initiative Petition for an Amendment to the Constitution that would introduce a graduated income tax in Massachusetts by raising the tax rate on those making over $1 million from 5.1% to 9.1%. This would change Massachusetts from having a flat tax rate which taxes everyone the same amount, to a graduated income tax which opens the door to a progressive tax rate.

Mass Fiscal Explanation

Mass Fiscal Alliance supports a vote against this petition since it is poorly written and we believe the legislature should not, in good conscience, pass it.
