This was a vote on engrossment of H4708, a $1.68 Billion Bond Bill. Despite Massachusetts having the highest debt per capita in the country, the passage of this bill would add to these high levels of debt, and potentially catalyze a downgrade from credit rating agencies. The state is facing record unemployment and projects major revenue shortfalls. This bill spends borrowed money on pet projects like court buildings, parks and zoos at a time when all spending should be reserved for the most necessary items.
