Requireing Unanimous Pick of Commissioners Deciding OCPF Director House #99

Vote Description

This was a vote to on amendment #4 to H.4087, An Act relative to campaign finance. This bill changes who appoints the Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF) director, taking it from a fair system that has existed for 45 years with no abuses, to a one sided system, squeezing out the input of the minority party. Amendment # 4 amends the section of the bill dealing with how the commission to appoint an OCPF director is picked. It would require unanimous consent of proposed commissioners who are appointed by a the governor, attorney general and the state secretary rather than a simple majority.

Mass Fiscal Explanation
