Education and Transportation Trust Fund Senate #72

Vote Description

This vote is on amendment #11 to H.86, A Proposal for a Constitutional Amendment changing MA's flat income tax to a graduated income tax, by issuing an 80% tax increase on those making over $1 million annually. Since this proposal claims to raise taxes in order to fund education and transportation specifically, this amendment would set up separate trust fund for the new revenue to go into that can only be used for those issue areas.

Mass Fiscal Explanation

Mass Fiscal supports a yes vote on this amendment to ensure this new tax would not simply be a new money grab, but actually fund what it states it will fund.
