Sanctuary State Amendment Senate #394
Vote Description
This vote was on amendment #1147 to the Senate Budget, S.4. It prohibits law enforcement officers from inquiring about a person’s immigration status and from cooperating with ICE to detain an illegal immigrant.
Mass Fiscal Explanation
MassFiscal supports a no vote on this amendment to support fiscal responsibility. It has been estimated that illegal immigrants cost the state of Massachusetts upwards of $1.9 billion a year. Prohibiting local law enforcement from stopping this costly practice is not fiscally responsible.
