Further Delay Implementation of Charitable Giving Tax Deduction Senate #69
Vote Description
This is a vote to override the governor's veto of the legislature's attempt to further delay a charitable giving tax deduction, Section 99 of H.4002, the House FY22 Budget. Over 20 years ago, Massachusetts voters voted in favor of allowing tax deductions for charitable giving, via ballot question. It was in effect for one year until legislators put it on hold due to economic recession. Now that revenues have been coming in consecutively over benchmark, and with an influx of federal dollars, it is past time for this voter approved deduction to be implemented, yet the legislature, by overriding the governor's veto, chose to further delay its implementation.
