Time to Review Conference Committee Reports Senate #5

Vote Description

This was a vote on amendment #13 to S.15, Proposed Joint Rules for the 2025-2026 Legislative Session. This amendment prohibits consideration of conference committee reports if filed within 72 hours of the end of formal session, and requires unanimous consent of all members to revoke, repeal, or suspend said rule. Conference committee reports are pieces of legislation that come out of a closed door reconciliation process, and have in the past, involved measures not previously included in past approved versions. Adding this buffer time ensures adequate time for legislators to review what are often complex bills, and at traditionally very busy time. Link to bill: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/194/S15
