Allowing for Sufficient Time Between Legislative Sessions Senate #2
Vote Description
This was a vote on amendment #1 to S.17, Senate Rules for the 2023-2024 Legislative Session. This amendment calls for a minimum of 8 hours in between legislative sessions unless an emergency is declared by Senate president. Often times during the budget debate, and at the end of the session deadline, legislators will meet into the early morning hours only to be back in session just hours later to take up new matters. The purpose would be to enable review, research, contemplation and discussion of legislation and amendments that may be taken up in the next session.
